Some Dementia Jokes

I took my mom on a date because my dad has dementia and she needed a break from caring for him. I’d offer to take my dad somewhere, but I’m pretty sure I’d just get stood up.

My dad would probably say that joke was in poor taste, but he doesn’t remember what it tasted like.

My dad is apparently on “the spectrum”: he’s is fixated on For Unto Us A Child Is Born. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve hit re-play. I think it was 45 minutes. Even the most pious would be tried. This isn’t a joke. Dementia: the adult autism spectrum.

Desert Seven

Israel, born Jacob, lived in desert heat,
Where at the well he and Rachel did meet.
I sit in sauna heat, thoughts turned to him.
Surely his heart filled with vigor and vim,
As he bargained for Rachel as his bride;
Seven years work, then she'd be at his side.
Fast-forward to appointed wedding day,
Israel finds out too late: he was betrayed.
Leah now his wife; Laban struck new deal:
Another seven for Rachel's hand for real.
Israel now juggles wife and idea:
Courting Rachel while married to Leah.
The solution for Israel was simplex;
The execution by hearts made complex.
